Exercise classes meet in the Community Room--except where noted. 

Mondays, 9:15 a.m.:  Exercise with Karen
Mondays, 12 - 12:45 p.m. - Pilates with Karen
Mondays, 2:30 p.m. - Tai Chi for Arthritis (begins March 4!)
Tuesdays, 9:15 a.m.: Yoga with Victoria
Tuesdays, 10:15 a.m., Tai Chi for Arthritis with Victoria
Wednesdays, 9:15 a.m., Exercise with Karen
Wednesdays, 10:30 a.m. Arthritis Exercise
Thursdays, 2 p.m. S.A.I.L. (Stay Active & Independent for Life) Begins March 19!)
Fridays, 9:30 a.m.:  Tai Chi with Dr. Durbin
Fridays, 10:15 a.m. - Chair Yoga (meets in the Conference Room)

Tai Chi for Arthritis / Tai Chi for Fall Prevention

In 1997, Dr Paul Lam led a team of tai chi and medical specialists to create this program. It is easy, enjoyable and safe for people with arthritis to learn. Medical studies have shown the program to relieve pain for people with arthritis and improve their quality of lives, as well as preventing falls for the older adults.  For this reason, arthritis foundations around the world and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in America are giving it their full support.

Medical authorities agree that suitable exercise for people with arthritis should incorporate the following components:
* Muscular strength supports and protects joints which will reduce p
* Flexibility exercises help reduce pain and stiffness thus improving mobility. 
* Fitness is important for overall health and proper function of heart, lungs and muscles.

Although it's especially effective for arthritis, it's a great start for beginners to improve health and wellness. It's enjoyable and safe to deliver many health benefits. 


Yoga with Victoria
Tuesdays at 9 a.m. $5.00 per class

The practice of yoga reduces the physical effects of stress on the body. In addition, regular yoga practice can aid in leading a healthy lifestyle by easing pain; improving breathing, lung function, flexibility, mobility, circulation; and increasing range of motion and strength. 

Stay Active & Independent for Life (SAIL)
Tuesdays & Thursdays, 2 p.m. BEGINNING MARCH 19
This strength, balance and fitness class for adults 65+ will help you be stronger, have better balance and feel better. Exercises are specifically designed to help maintain and improve balance and mobility. Call the Center, 223-5794, to register.
